Anna Sui: SS27

Production Manager | Audio & Visual

Overview

As Production Manager for Oxygen Eventworks, I managed audio and lighting production for Anna Sui's Spring/Summer 2027 "Wonderment" show at the National Arts Club. I was the client's main point of contact on site, ensuring our crew stayed aligned with ROS, and problem solving in real time when situations arise.

The Challenge

Anna Sui herself was concerned that the bar room, which also served as VIP seating for the show, felt too dark. That space had always gotten minimal uplighting because the design leaned on a natural sunlight. Oxygen has lit Anna's shows for five years using a similar layout, so the new setup wasn't something we'd anticipated. We needed to add brightness without losing the ambiance of the room. I liaised between Anna, her production team, and Oxygen Crew to understand what she needed and how we could better light the space for the collection.

What I did

I reworked the lighting plan on the fly. The back room was already well lit from the venue's fixtures, so instructed we moved uplights from there into the bar room and pushed them to full intensity. I pulled two more fixtures from back of house to fill the gaps, then had the color temperature adjusted on the SkyPanels so the sparkle on the models' looks could really catch the light, which was something Anna specifically wanted to ensure would come through.

The Result

Anna was thrilled with how the room came together. After the show, she found me backstage to personally thank me for caring about the collection and helping it shine. I even got a hug :)
